Buy 2023 Silver Krugerrand Coins

The world's most widely held and actively traded gold bullion coin, NOW IN SILVER AND BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED!

The  2023 1 oz Silver Krugerrand Coin is minted in .999 fine silver by the South African Mint Company. This is the first Silver Bullion Krugerrand ever made. Last year a Silver Proof Krugerrand was minted but not a bullion one, until now.  The first 22 karat Gold Krugerrand was minted on 3 July 1967 and since its inception more than 50 million Gold Krugerrands in all sizes have been minted. Now it's the time for Silver to make its record as well.

The obverse surface of the 2023 Silver Krugerrand Coin bears an effigy of Paul Kruger, the President of the historical South African Republic. Kruger is revered in South African history as the face of the Boer resistance against British rule in the Transvaal. This effigy was struck from the original die used in 1892 for the Kruger half-crown coin. The reverse surface of the coin, designed and engraved by famed South African sculptor Coert Steynberg, bears the image of a prancing springbok, a national symbol.

The history of the South African Mint goes back to the opening of the first state mint in Pretoria in 1892. The current South African Mint came into being in 1941 when the South African government took over the Pretoria branch of the Royal Mint.
